CNC Parts Prototype Testing of CNC Machining Manufacturer
CNC parts prototype testing for precision machining services
Precision Machining Services When prototyping, it is most important to obtain machined parts from a wide range of materials and then test them through components. Since different materials have different costs and different mechanical and chemical properties, it is best to build prototypes from CNC parts planned for the final product before testing whether a machined part prototype can be matched to an assembly.
High quality cnc parts may help to optimize the strength, stiffness or weight of the final product. In some cases, machined part prototypes may allow specific finishing processes,in this way, the prototype of precision CNC parts can meet the requirements of customers. In addition to the accuracy of the prototype of the part, post-processing is also essential, such as surface treatment.
How to choose plating factory
Tuofa CNC machining manufacturers have relatively high requirements for surface treatment technology. Therefore, when the custom CNC machined parts require surface treatment services, we must do a surface treatment test of the machined parts when selecting a supplier of surface treatment services.
As we all know stainless steel is much expensive than carbon steel. To save material cost and keep parts away from rust but meanwhile still ensure the high tolerance of dimensions. The zinc-nickel coat, with passivation, has better heat resistance than other passivate coatings, giving no real reduction in protection even after heating to 120℃. to check the performance of electroplated coating of Zn-Ni in neutral spray test. And find out which plating factory can meet the requirement of 300h salt spray exposure.
Select 3 electroplating factories as test objects
Here is observed result:
216-258 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion, but the surfaces turn to a little bit matte.
Plating factory#2: the samples showed a little bit white rust on the surface.
Plating factory#3: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion.
258-300 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion, but the surfaces turn to a little bit matte.
plating factory#2: the samples showed white rust on surface, and red rust on the thread holes (eliminate).
plating factory#3: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion.
Unfortunately, electroplating factory# 2 can not continue the following test
300-342 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed a little bit white rust on the surface.
Plating factory#3: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion, but the surfaces turn to a little bit matte.
342-400 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed more area white rust on the surface.
Plating factory#3: the samples showed no evidence of corrosion, but the surfaces turn to a little bit matte.
400-442 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed more area white rust on the surface.
Plating factory#3: the samples showed a little bit white rust on the surface.
400 - around 480 Hours:
Plating factory#1: the samples showed more area white rust on the surface.
Plating factory#3: the samples showed a little bit white rust on the surface, red rust was found on M3 thread hole in only 1 piece (it thickness is the 15mm).
Finally, we have a conclusion:
On perspective of white rust time on surface (not the holes), the Zn-Ni coat plated by both plating factory #1 and plating factory#3 meet requirement of 300h salt spray exposure. plating factory #3 is the best. Regarding the red rust on through M3 thread hole (φ3mm), because the depth of hole with red rust is 15mm, much deeper than other though holes(12mm), we should not give a negative conclusion on the quality of plating factory#3. But meanwhile we should be alert that the Zn-Ni coat will be thinner on long and small holes than other surfaces. Action should be taken to protect such long and small holes from rusty during assembly. For example, add LOCTITE to seal thread holes.
